ABOUT

WelcomeToMA© is a special media project about Boston and Massachusetts. Our project was launched in 2013 with the support of Massachusetts: It’s ALL Here, a state marketing partnership.

The pilot version of WelcomeToMA© and the brand www.ILike.Boston were developed and are managed by cEventa® under the auspices of The Massachusetts Department of Education and The Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism, as well as with the support of our business partners.

www.ILike.Boston is a digest about Boston and Massachusetts in the Russian and English languages. It is focused on the most significant news and background information: how to win admission to MIT or Harvard, stories about the most ambitious and daring startups, employment opportunities in the state of Massachusetts, how to attract investors, and much more.

Our aim is to cover as many aspects of our state’s life as possible in an exciting and easy-to-understand manner. We publish articles, interviews, special reports, and other features that highlight the history of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, its modern-day life, and its special areas of achievement, not least its world-famous educational system and healthcare, along with a groundbreaking hi-tech industry, a wide array of cultural activities, and a unique set of tourist attractions.

Alma mater: Education. Our state has more than 100 institutions of higher learning: this impressive cluster of world-renowned universities and colleges is unique in the world. Two of our colleges are at the very top of global university ratings: Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) always make it to the World’s Top Five. Massachusetts is well known as an “incubator of Nobel laureates”, as their number here exceeds 100 persons – those who were born in MA, or lived, worked, or studied in our state.

In the Alma Mater section you can learn how to apply for admission, where to study, how to obtain a scholarship, further your educational goals, or, who knows, maybe even become a Nobel Prize winner.

Made in MA: Innovation, business, and entrepreneurship. Boston and Massachusetts historically have always been the birthplace of many revolutionary inventions, from Alexander Bell’s telephone to the Morse code, from anesthesia to the sewing machine, from email to http protocol, and a lot more. The names of Massachusetts-based companies are easily recognized anywhere in the world: General Electric, Raytheon, Facebook, Gillette, Polaroid, New Balance, Dunkin Donuts…

In Made in MA you will read about the most daring and successful startups and the most efficient ways to enchant an investor with your business idea, or find an attractive job in biotech or other hi-tech, or gain valuable knowledge and/or experience.

***

Health and Science: healthcare, biotech, and life science. Do you know where the world’s top innovation mile is? Silicon Valley, California, right? Wrong! It’s located in Cambridge, MA, near Kendall Square. And in Boston, we have a Medical District – a whole cluster of major hospitals and medical centers, which are allied with leading medical schools (e.g., the Harvard Medical School). Here patients from dozens of countries receive the most advanced treatment. Not infrequently people are admitted to these top-notch hospitals thanks to philanthropic organizations’ charitable help.

Among other things, you can learn in Health and Science more about philanthropic organizations that help those unable to pay for healthcare services.

History and Visit: history, geography, and sightseeing. Pioneers of the New World, the Boston Tea Party, the first Constitution of the United States, the Salem witches, Moby Dick vs. whalers, the most delicious lobsters, the sand dunes and woods filled with gorgeous (edible!) mushrooms on Cape Cod, the rich and famous’ mansions on Martha’s Vineyard, mountains and forests, rivers and lakes…

So, in History and Visit you can get all the information you need to successfully plan a trip to New England or elsewhere in the United States.
